Michael Oritt
Driving with Michael's Vintage Racing since 2010"Though I am a relative late-comer to racing I have always been interested in automotive competition.
I was raised in Miami, Florida and attending the Sebring 12 Hour event was an annual ritual for me. I, along with several like-minded friends, drove up to Sebring each Spring between 1958 and 1962, and watched with fascination the cars and the glamorous people who inhabited the world of international sports car competition during "The Golden Years" of racing. I vowed that one day I would drive a car like those I saw.
Unfortunately my involvement in sports car racing never got past the ownership of British and German performance cars (a Triumph TR3, a couple of Healeys, a Porsche 356, an early XKE and a number of BMW sedans) and though I dabbled in parking lot autocrosses and did some long-distance rallying I never took steps to get on the track.
Finally in 2006 I signed up for a three-day school with Skip Barber and got my ticket. By early 2007 I owned my Elva Courier and my first wheel-to-wheel race was an SVRA event at, appropriately enough, Sebring! I jumped into the deep end of the pool and have been having great fun ever since.
Over the last ten years I have done about 12-14 events each year and I hope to continue doing so for as long as I can. This year I will be doing a lot of my racing with track support from Mike and Michael, and my goal is to increase the level of my racing with better vehicle prep and increased attention to on-track performance."
